Turquoise on sterling silver chain
A small Mojave turquoise cabochon hung on a sterling silver chain. This turquoise has been stabilised, which means it has previously been subjected to a treatment to strengthen it (see link below for more information). Despite being called turquoise, there is very little on this piece that is actually turquoise in colour. It is mainly orange/brown. However, the unusual matrix is still attractive.
